February 24, 2020There are a lot of things to do when exploring Rhodes!
Whether you stay in the center of Rhodes or in the outskirts, visiting Mandraki is definitely a must-do. Mandraki is both the center and the northern part of the island. Here are 3 destinations to make your visit there, the most exciting of your vacation.
Ideally you should begin with a tour at the Old Town. The earlier you start walking, the better, as the temperatures will be lower. 9-11 is a good time to explore the medieval alleys and feel the ancient aura that rolls through the town. The Red Gate, the Road of the Knights and the Church of the Virgin of the Burgh are some of the highlights that you can’t miss. After grabbing an ice cream you can head to the modern center, towards the central bus station.
In a matter of 7-9 minutes you can be in Throne of Helios 9D Cimena. It’s a historical building where you can learn about the past of Rhodes in the most spectacular way possible! With a custom made 9D movie you are going to travel through the centuries and feel the heat of every major battle. The feeling intensifies through special sound and 3D effects, vibrations, artificial fire, water, bubbles and wind. It’s an intense 20 minute experience and an unforgettable memory for the whole family!
The most relaxing way to end such a day of exploring would be a quick visit to the Aquarium. It’s located in the northern edge of the island, near the Casino and about 1 km away from Throne of Helios. An Italian building with underground passages that look like a cave, filled with fish-tanks left and right. There is also a small marine museum next to the entrance. Upon exiting, don’t forget to gaze the wide sunset of Psaropoula Beach!
